SportPesa Partners with PRO14 Rugby
The partnership, that will see SportPesa receive branding coverage on all matches during this year’s Guinness PRO14 Finals and throughout next season’s tournament in its entirety, is SportPesa’s first move into rugby union outside of Africa.
In addition to the standard exposure rights, lucky SportPesa customers will be able to receive special offers on Guinness PRO14 matches and will also be able to compete in competitions to win exclusive tickets and VIP experiences.
Shaun Simmonds, Head of Marketing at SportPesa, said: “Everyone at SportPesa is incredibly excited about our partnership with PRO14 Rugby. Whilst we have a strong heritage in the sport, having supported local rugby in East Africa and sponsored the Kenya Rugby Sevens team, this partnership underlines the company’s diversification into Europe and South Africa.”
SportPesa recently opened operations in Ireland and South Africa; last year began trading in Italy and kicked off their activities in the UK back in 2016.
Guinness PRO14 has also seen rapid expansion in recent times – this being the first season in which teams from South Africa have competed in the tournament.
As well as partnerships with globally recognised brands such as Guinness and now SportPesa, PRO14 Rugby has recently welcomed global brands such as Honda, CityJet, Macron and Opta to its stable of partners.
Simmonds continued: “To be sitting at the top table of the sport alongside some of the most powerful brands on the planet is testament to the great work my colleagues have done in recent times; we’re looking forward to accelerating that growth further thanks to this partnership.”
Dermot Rigley, Commercial & Marketing Director, PRO14 Rugby, added: “SportPesa are a fresh, innovative company whose mission and core values ensure they work hard to give back to the local communities they are involved with and that’s in keeping with our own ideals. SportPesa are already involved in rugby with their support of the Kenyan 7s and development teams while they have high-profile partnerships with teams in the Premier League and Serie A as well as La Liga,” Rigley said.
The Guinness PRO14 finals reach the semi-final stage this evening with Glasgow Warriors hosting Scarlets before newly-crowned European Champions Cup winners Leinster host Munster at the RDS Arena tomorrow.
